Genius Hour Project!
This is YOUR time to shine!!
You can go ahead and get started on this now and present next week in our Zoom meeting or wait until the following week!
What is Genius Hour?
Genius Hour is a concept based off of time offered to employees at companies such as Google and 3M.
These companies have been known to offer their employees “20% time” where 20% of their time at work can be spent exploring their own company-related projects.
Products like Gmail, Google Docs, and Post It notes came about from such projects.

I want to give my Spotlight students an opportunity to shine and really explore topics to which they are passionate! Now is their time to choose what they want to learn about!! They can even take this time to share their creative ideas, interests, or even talents!
Endless possibilities! They can create a poster, movie, Prezi, play, drawing, etc... ANYTHING!
Steps to creating a Genius Hour Project:
Step 1: Your Interests
Make a list of all of the things that you are interested in, good at, or excited about.
Step 2: A Question
Pick a topic and think of a question that will drive your project. Your question will require thought and research to answer.
Step 3: Research
Use a variety of sources to research your topic - with parental supervision. You can use the internet, books, magazines, or videos! Make sure not to copy word for word the information. That is plagiarism. Read it, understand it, and write your own ideas about it!
Step 4: Create
Use the information that you have gathered from research to create your own project!
Step 5: Share
Share your project with the class on Zoom or with me through pictures or videos!
Examples:
*If a student has interest in art and is talented in that subject, they could present on a particular artist that they are interested in or create a series of art that reflects their talents. They could even make a "How To" video to share with the class of how to draw something.
*If a student is interested in architecture, they could research about architects and create their own "blue print" or even make a model of a house or building and talk to the class about how they created it.
*Students could even write and sing a song to share their talents of music.
Be sure to share their creations/presentations on our Lewisburg Spotlight Facebook Page!
