GENIUS HOUR PROJECT
WHAT IS GENIUS HOUR??
Genius Hour is a concept based off of time offered to employees at companies such as Google and 3M.
These companies have been known to offer their employees “20% time” where 20% of their time at work can be spent exploring their own company-related projects.
Products like Gmail, Google Docs, and Post It notes came about from such projects.

This year, I wanted to give my Spotlight students an opportunity to shine and really explore topics to which they are passionate! Students have been brainstorming topics, sketching ideas, and researching their interests.
Now is the time to share their wonderful and creative ideas/interests/talents to the class!
Endless possibilities! They can create a poster, movie, Prezi, play, drawing, etc...
This is THEIR PROJECT!! :) This will reflect their interests. They will present their project/ideas to the class.
Examples:
If a student has interest in art and is talented in that subject, they could present on a particular artist that they are interested in or create a series of art that reflects their talents. They could even make a "How To" video to share with the class of how to draw something.
If a student is really interested in Hawaii, they could present a poster to share their finds about this state.
If a student is interested in architecture, they could research about architects and create their own "blue print" or even make a model of a house or building and talk to the class about how they created it.
Students could write and sing a song to share their talents of music.
Students may work on their project in class or at home.
GUIDELINES:
Topics must be appropriate and must be approved by Mrs. Rainey by April 28th.
