Here are the Outcomes for Intellectually Gifted Education Programs, updated 2017
DCS Intellectually Gifted Mission Statement
DeSoto County Schools will offer a qualitatively different educational experience that is unavailable in the elementary or middle school general education classroom. Each school will develop a differentiated program designed to address the needs of the students enrolled in the school inline with the districts instructional management plan. These programs guarantee intellectually gifted students an appropriate opportunity to experience continued personal growth. These programs strive to provide intellectually gifted students with an opportunity to maximize their personal potential.

In DeSoto County, students begin Gifted services in the 2nd grade and end in the 6th grade. Students are not required to retest each year. Once students are tested and qualify for the program, they remain in the program until 6th grade.
All students are mass screened in 1st grade in DeSoto County.
Students new to the district or state will be tested as soon as they begin LES.
If you have any questions about testing, please contact myself @ firstname.lastname@example.org
